Ryan Reynolds Pens Heartfelt Tribute To Friend Who Lost His Battle With Cancer
If there’s one thing everyone can agree on this year (and every year before), it’s that cancer sucks.
Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds has paid an emotional tribute to Connor McGrath, a 13-year-old boy from Canada who sadlylost his battle with cancer this week.
The pair initially met thanksto the Make-A-Wish Foundation, who brought them together so that Connor could watch Deadpool before its official release.
He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was just 10.
His friends and family initially attemptedto raise $800,000 (around 550,000) to send him to the USA for an experimental cancer treatment.
However his mother Kim Searle-McGrathcalled off the attempt back in February when her son’s health had deteriorated.
Reynolds’ long and thoughtful message included anecdotes from their friendship, and was accompanied by pictures of the pair together and also of Connor with his family.
For UK readers, you can follow Reynolds’ instructions and donate to the UK branch of Make A Wish here – an amazing charity helping to fulfill the wishes of terminally ill but still pretty damn awesome kids in the UK.
Our thoughts are with Connor’s friends and family at this sad time.
