Bernie Sanders Reacting To His Brother Voting For Him Will Make You Cry
On Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention, there was a very special moment during the roll call vote shared between Senator Bernie Sanders and one of the delegates from Democrats Abroad: Larry Sanders, the Vermont senator’s brother.

Larry Sanders, who lives in the UK, could barely hold back his emotions as he stated,
I want to bring before this convention the names of our parents: Eli Sanders, Dorothy Glassberg Sanders. They did not have easy lives, and they died young. They would be immensely proud of their son and his accomplishments. They loved him.
They loved the New Deal of Franklin Roosevelt and would be especially proud that Bernard is renewing that vision. It is with enormous pride that I cast my vote for Bernie Sanders.
Bernie Sanders’ reaction was priceless, and you might want to grab some tissues before you take a look.

This was a pretty amazing moment for these two brothers, and for democracy.
Bernie Sanders hasn’t spoken about his parents very often, but it’s clear they faced many struggles during their lives.
My father’s story, my story, the modern immigrant’s story is the story of America and it is a story that must be celebrated, not reviled.

In a Facebook post back in December, Sanders wrote,
I was born in a far-away land called Brooklyn, New York. My father came to this country from Poland without a penny in his pocket and without much of an education. My parents, brother and I lived in a small, rent-controlled apartment. As a kid I learned, in many, many ways, what lack of money means to a family. That’s a lesson I have never forgotten. My parents would have never dreamed that their son would be a U.S. Senator, let alone run for president.
From humble beginnings in Brooklyn to the 2016 Democratic National Convention, Bernie Sanders’ life has definitely been a uniquely American story.
